When Do You Need Varifocal Glasses?

In most cases, this is the onset of presbyopia: a normal process whereby the eye's lens loses its elasticity and can no longer properly focus objects at different distances. Progressive lenses are divided into three zones, each of which has a different prescription: the upper part is for looking into the distance, the lower part for close-up objects, and the middle part combines the near and distance zones to create the intermediate distance (examples of the intermediate distance are a car dashboard or the navigation system. Many different aspects determine how relaxed and natural our eyes will be when looking through progressive lenses. One of the most important factors is the optimum centring of the lens, which involves adjusting the eyeglass lenses to the shape of the face, the distance between the pupils, and the tilt of the head. Even small errors can drastically reduce the performance of the lenses, often with unpleasant consequences such as incompatibility, premature fatigue, discomfort, headaches and permanent poor vision.
That’s why, when manufacturing ZEISS progressive lenses, we take two key aspects into account: our digital precision eye measurements and careful, comprehensive adjustment of the glasses. To ensure such high quality, our ZEISS VISION CENTER Zagreb relies on top-of-the-line precision instruments and special analytical processes that allow for precise calculation of the frame and lens position down to 1/10 of a millimetre. Ideally, progressive lenses should be thin and lightweight. The lighter the frames and lenses, the more comfortable they are to wear. Modern manufacturing methods and high-quality materials enable us to produce attractive thin lenses, even with high prescription and unique vision problems. This eliminates the unattractive googly eye effect.

Equip Your Progressive Glasses with Blue Light Protection
Light sources such as a smartphone, TV, LED lamp or laptop emit much more blue light than ever before. Blue light can completely disrupt our internal clocks, cause insomnia and prevent us from getting a good night's sleep. Some people find this light unpleasant or tiring.
Greater visual comfort is achieved by using a special blue light filter ZEISS BlueGuard DuraVision Platinum UV. It works very well under artificial light and helps people who are looking for a way to protect their eyes from harmful blue light. In addition to the blue light filter, lenses with ZEISS ZEISS BlueGuard DuraVision Platinum UV also have a hard coating that protects against scratches and glare, CleanCoat finish for easy cleaning, and a ZEISS patented antistatic coating to prevent dust buildup on the lens surface.

Our Tip for Progressive Lenses
Did you know there are ways to get used to your progressive lenses more quickly? Our tip: the sooner you opt for progressive lenses, the easier it will be to get used to wearing them. If your near vision correction is still low, the transitions in progressive lenses will be more subtle, making it easier for you to get used to wearing them. At first, you should wear your new progressive glasses regularly, ideally from morning to evening. This way, your eyes will quickly adapt to different viewing zones.
